Working with the Pesticide Suicide Prevention Center (PSPC) was a great pleasure for Nepa~laya Productions as it provided us with the opportunity to work with a non-profit organization and learn from the experience. To meet the project requirements, we shot videos in hospitals, health clinics, farms, and pesticide vendors in the areas where the PSPC operates. Additionally, we collected b-roll footage to showcase the livelihoods of people living in five monumental areas of World Heritage Sites (Swayambhu, Pashupati, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, and Lalitpur Durbar Square), as well as in the traditional space of Kirtipur.

We took the PSPC team to Dhulikhel, where we collected videos of local pesticide vendors. From there, we went to a resort in Kushadevi, which gave us a flavor of vacationing in a remote resort at the top of a hill. We interviewed farmers nearby and collected video footage of them spraying pesticides. Toward the end of our stay at the resort, our Hiace microbus broke down, but we immediately called Kathmandu to send another vehicle. During this interval, we used the time to interview local community members and capture more B-roll footage. We were committed to making the most of our time and resources.

As the topic of pesticide suicide is sensitive, we made sure that only a few people stayed on-site during the filming process, and our cinematographer conducted translations as needed. Our team values learning new skills and tackling sensitive topics. We had the opportunity to meet with experts in various fields, such as the police, forensic laboratory, doctors, psychologists, anthropologists, and many more, which helped us broaden our horizons.

Filming with the PSPC was a new challenge for us, but we enjoyed the experience and appreciate the opportunity to work on such an important project that helps save countless lives.
