Posts of Jumla

In Nepali, “twin” means “Jumlyaha”. The Jumla district is characterized by twin mountains, from which twin rivers- Tila and Jawa- originate. The point where the two rivers converge is known as Jumla. In the past, Jumla was the seat of powerful Khas kings who practiced Buddhism, while the general public followed Shamanistic practices.

Jumla is renowned as the largest apple-producing district in Nepal. Its cereals, including beans, millets, and Marsi Rice are exported to Canada. Notably, Jumli Marsi Rice thrives at an elevation of 3,050 meters, making it the highest altitude for rice cultivation.
