In 2021, a popular 500 km long march took, lasting for 20 days, from Banke to Kathmandu led by Ruby Khan. The march was in protest of the death of Nankunni Dhobi and the disappearance of Nirmala Kurmi, whose two sons were also murdered. The crime was allegedly connected to Badshah Kurmi, a member of the First Constitutional Assembly from the Nepali Congress.
