Posts of Bardiya

In the Tharu language, “Bardawa” means a place with a lot of cows and oxen, which is believed to have later become Bardiya. The district is home to the famous Bardiya National Park, which received Sustainable Destination in the Asia Pacific in 2019, as well as the TX2 Award in 2018 for successfully doubling its wild tiger population. However, as a consequence, it also faces significant challenges from tiger attacks, which we have documented in our database. Additionally, there are also cases of tiger-centric efforts that have pushed other predators to the fringe of the ecosystem.
