Rukum holds a tragic story involving Nabaraj BK, a Dalit youth, who fell in love with an upper-caste girl. The girl’s father and brother allowed Nabaraj to come to Rukum, where he was tragically killed. Another incident linked with Rukum is of 28-year-old Dharmakumari Batala (28) who suffered from heart disease and fluctuating blood pressure. She boarded a night bus from Radhi to Nepalgunj. When her child began crying, passengers tried to wake her, only to discover she had passed during the journey. A passenger captured a photo of the scene, which subsequently went viral.
