Jajarkot is a historically significant district that features the Lakhey Dance, introduced to the area from Bhaktapur. In 2020, a pair of one of the rarest birds- Raj Giddha was found in Jajarkot.

In 2009, Jajarkot experienced a cholera epidemic with 30,000 reported cases and 500 fatalities. During that time, only 10 houses in Jajarkot had toilets. As a response to this situation, around 20,000 latrines were constructed in 2014 to improve sanitation and hygiene conditions.
